Satori Dance: A New Dance Style

The Satori Dance Studio was founded in 2010 by Sat Khalsa after 15 years studying dance to create a center for developing dance and body arts that explore the edges of self-expression, collaboration and creativity.

Sat took from the various dance forms he studied including swing dance, tribal belly dance, and San Francisco’s dance and music scene of the last decade and merged the essence together and began teaching classes in this new style, Satori. Satori dance allows anyone to lead or follow, and shows you how to use the space between you and your partner as a connection that allow you to create dance together to match the music of any band or DJ. Learn to have the confidence to express yourself through movement and creative social connections with other dancers limited only by your combined imaginations. Come be the dance you want to see in the world!

Classes for beginners! A fun way to exercise.

What you can expect in your first class:

~A class designed to be fun and easily accessible for those who have never taken a dance class before.

~Have fun getting some exercise.

~Learn new ways of moving your body.

~Experience being comfortable dancing in a supportive environment where the goal is have fun dancing.

We start with a brisk warm up: stretching, cardio, and some strength building. You will dance with other people, so come dressed for comfort and groomed to move within arms length of a dance partner (avoid strong fragrances).Lastly, bring plenty of water and a smile!

The class teaches you how to dance naturally in rhythm with a partner while having a great time dancing to cutting edge underground music! You will also learn how to isolate movements, get a good workout, and learn new ways to move your body.
